#39 The Bible Way To Mental Health
Scripture reading:
(Romans 12:2)

PROPOSITION: SWITCH OFF YOUR LAPTOP,  Quit looking at the news, you don’t need the news to update you on life. we need the good news that gives is life and this news is the good news of the gospel.
AIM: The way to good mental health is through renewing the mind the bible way

1.God’s way of Good mental health.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12;2).

2.Sober in our thinking.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4;8).

Think on these things; or, as in the margin of R.V., take account of. Let these be the considerations which guide your thoughts and direct your motives. The apostle implies that we have the power of governing our thoughts, and so are responsible for them (Philippians 4;8).

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. New King James Version. (Philippians 4:9).

3. The way to peace.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus  (Philippians 4;7).

4. The way to an unoffended mindset.
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119;165)

5. Elijah the prophet is evidenced that Godly men can suffer from depression
Elijah walked a whole day into the wilderness. He stopped and sat down in the shade of a tree and wished he would die. “It’s too much, LORD,” he prayed. “Take away my life; I might as well be dead! (1 Kings 19;4).

NOTES:

Children education, children’s rights, Gender Issues, perental rights, cost of living crisis, religious persecution, nuclear prolification, free speech, drugs and alcoholism. Mental health, Things,, Issues trends and movements around us effect our thinking, our responses to life, our attitudes and moods, even out will to live and can be overwhelming to say the least. Now more than ever we need to give up control to God, stop playing God, forget about changing the world and begin by asking God to change us.

Thoughts make the man and a man is made by his thoughts. As a man thinketh so is he (Proverbs 23;7). We are all individually responsible for our thinking. our thoughts comes form our outlook on life. what we see and hear and what we dwell upon, good or bad. Mental health is not a disease its a responsibility. Drugs and medication cant take away bad, negative or unhelpful thoughts. but getting into good company with positive people, reading good books including the bible and believing in your future is medicine itself and indeed these are practical things we can do to help us think happy thoughts and establish a sound mind..

Conformed to the word and its way of doing things its outlook on life its views on war , disease, can all be depressing and annoying. However God has the answer, don’t be conformed to this stuff but ‘be transformed by the renewing of your own mind.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep YOUR heart and Minds through Christ Jesus’  (Philippians 4;7). It is the peace of God which keeps our ‘hearts’ and ‘minds.’ together! There can be no peace that preserves and keeps the mind if Jesus has no place in ones’ thinking. A society without God in their mind is a society that looses its mind. Where would they get their peace from? Where would their salvation come from. David said my salvation comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth

Look at Psalm 121. ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.’ He didn’t say, my help comes from FOX news or the BBC. Even the best of news reporters today offer nothing but political opinion, filth and what’s wrong with the world and watching them is like sticking your head in the dumpster first thing ion the morning. We have to lift up our eyes above what’s around us and see the bigger brighter picture.

‘He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:’ Your foot wont be moved if you look upward to him.
‘he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.’ Preservation of mind and protection from anxiety comes from the Lord as we meditate in his word day and night.
