God Male or Female?

‘Is God male or female’ I was asked by a Muslim friend. I responded ‘Male!’ she replied ‘in Islam we believe God is neither male nor female.’ I said ‘Jesus who is the Lord God was and is a male, so God is male.’ She said, ‘the church of England have been talking about this lately.’ Indeed they have, there is a big debate in the state church over same sex blessing, and transgender baptism, especially in the light that some high ranking Bishops claim that the COE is doing very little to encourage the LGBTQ community.
Is God male or female? scripture declares, that God is our heavenly ‘Father’ a clear indication of his gender. We are exhorted to pray, ‘Our FATHER who art in heaven.’

John 4:24 JESUS said to the woman at the well, that the hour cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the FATHER in spirit and truth for the FATHER seeketh such to worship HIM. Isaiah 9:6 Calls Jesus the everlasting FATHER and the Mighty God and the Prince of peace Titus 2:13 awaiting the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ who gave HIMSELF. ‘Himself’ being a term for a male, a singular masculine pronoun. The pronoun ‘himself’ is a reflective pronoun, a word that is taking the place of a singular noun for a male used to reflect back to its antecedent for example… in Genesis 22:8 GOD will provide HIMSELF a lamb.
