He as a man was a ‘self made’ man, when we say of a millionaire ‘he’s a self made millionaire,’ so we can say of the Lord that he MADE HIMSELF of no reputation and became obedient to the death of the cross. He was MADE in the likeness of man (Phillipians 2:6,7.
After this expression he goes onto this conjunction to add another act of Christ’s humiliation, ‘and being found in fashion as a man.
He emptied himself’ Its impossible to empty something which has no fulness. but he emptied himself. He was ‘fully’ GOD BUT as a man he did not cease being God. He was full of power but as a man he did not cease being all powerful.

So not only was he made by man he was also found by those who themselves were lost. The God who came seeking man was now found by those seeking him..
His humiliation continues with a scripture from Hebrews… A BODY thou hast prepared me. (Hebrews 10:5).
Back to the Text. And being in the FORM of God (V6) He was found in the FORM of man (v8). The first proposition was that he was the FORM of God. The second proposition was that he was found in the FORM of man.
Now needless to say that he was in the form of God before he was found in the form of man. He did not just exist when he was born of a woman, he existed before he created the woman. its just that the day he was born of a woman he took on flesh.
‘He emptied himself’ Now we know that all FULNESS and all the fulness of the Godhead dwells in this God man. (Colossians 2:9) It is impossible to empty something which has no fulness, but he emptied himself. He was ‘fully’ GOD BUT as a man he did not cease being God. He was full of power but as a man he did not cease being all powerful.. He did not empty himself of his divine nature or divine ability or divine authority, rather he emptied himself of his own will…. I came to do thy will o God!.. Who being God came to serve as a man…
