Preaching to Cause an Uproar
In Acts 17 Paul and Silas came to Thessalonica and for three days reasoned that Jesus was the Christ, him of whom the Prophets talked about. the God who was to become sin and so become the messiah the savior of the World. They reasoned “dialogomai” entered into “dioalogue,” or “discusssion,” soon the city was in uproar…. the house of Jason was assaulted and the brethren were taken to the city council and charged with, ” These that have turned the world upside down are among us ( Acts 17:-1-6)…..Preach with URGENCY in season and out of Season as if God is never out of style and your message never out of date (2 Tim 4:2).Preach with CERTAINTY. If you know it preach it, if it can be spoken, preach it.Preach SPECIFICALLY as a dying man to dying men.Preach CONFIDENTLY as one knowing not as one speculating or suggesting. Gk:- ginosko.Preach DIAMETRICALLY straight down the line… to arrive at a finsh point. Gk:- “diakatelegchomai” (Acts 2:28).I walked through the streets of our local city, there was a man preaching, waving his bible, speaking as if he was oblivious to the people around him. I went up to him to ask him a few questions, he just ignored me and continued his sermon as if I did not exist.Now this man was more interested in making a noise than he was in converting a soul. He had no time for the souls of men yet preached a message condeming those who did not follow the ways of God. You see, he could rant but he could not connect. Disconnected preaching does more harm than good for it alienates souls and never converts them. Sadly some love the attention they get more than the souls they meet, and many preach for facebook popularity than out of the love for the lost. Surely, It’s one thing to preach its another to preach because you have compassion for others. It’s one thing to preach but its another thing to engage in constructive ‘dialogue’ and get down there in the trenches with those who want to know know more.If you want to shake your city. ENGAGE me! dont just preach at me! talk about it, answer my questions. befriend me as a person, not just another convert.IMAGE.
